Welcome to Bay Ridge Christian College
Retention, graduation rates and campus safety are critical challenges colleges and universities are facing in educating today’s students. Research shows that many traditional college programs are no longer meeting the needs of our diverse student population.
Bay Ridge College is positioning itself to provide an alternative college experience through Transformational teaching and learning….for change. This model will utilize a rigorous and relevant ability-based curriculum in which students are taught self efficacy skills through Cognitive Restructuring - a process which teaches students accountability, critical positive thinking, study skills, teamwork, work ethics, and a commitment of service to others in a highly structured safe and serene environment. This approach to education will allow the Bay Ridge graduate to live their lives with a commitment to ethical behavior and prepared with the real-world skills necessary to compete in today's challenging business environment. Students will also have a true appreciation for their faith and moral values.
The college is currently in the process of reorganizing and will initially reopen as a two-year residential junior college with an emphasis on helping to empower students, specifically Young men of color, to become confident leaders, able to join the workforce or pursue an advanced degree of their choosing.
Our open admission policy is intended to make education available to the largest number of students possible. Student Scholars will be expected, however, to maintain high standards and to take full responsibility for their academic careers.
The school will serve as an important stepping stone for its student scholars. Students who complete our program will be able to transfer to four-year universities or colleges to pursue their bachelor’s degree. Academic standing is based on universities’ and colleges’ admission transfer polices. Currently, we are non-accredited and in the process of seeking degree-granting authority and accreditation with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) and Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), respectively.
